Trying to decide between the 12 oz or the quarter wheel?

The 12-oz cut is our work horse. This one is for the entertainer or used in cooking. It’s enough cheese for a couple grilled cheese sammies or a party of 12-16 guests. These wedges have a 3 month shelf life if kept in the original packaging.

The 5 lb quarter wheel is perfect for large parties and weddings.

Recipes

If you’ve ever purchased a smoker, this story will ring true for you and your family members—we’ve all been through a smoked-food craze in our lives. Co-owner of Beehive Cheese, Pat Ford, is no exception to this. Impressively, back in 2006, Pat welded his own homemade smoker and began smoking everything in sight (his wife and kids still giggle a little when you mention this time in their lives).

Beehive had been in business for only a year by 2006. They were doing a lot of experimentation with their cheddars at that time and they decided to smoke a 20-lb wheel in Pat’s homespun smoker. Being resourceful, Pat grabbed what he had on hand to smoke the wheel, which was apple and walnut wood from his trees in the backyard.

The first batch was a comical melted mess. However, the second batch was the beginning of the Apple Walnut Smoked we know today, and they’ve been perfecting this cheese ever since. To date, it’s the reigning champion of Smoked Cheddars in the United States according to the American Cheese Society.

    We need more and more

Beehive apple walnut smoked cheese is our absolute favorite. We can’t get enough of it. We have never had anything like it, it’s so good.

    Strong, but not too strong

Some cheeses win on their light and fluffy flavor. Not Apple-Walnut Smoked, this is a full-body cheese with a flavor that gets noticed! Strong enough to add to eggs, soups, salads or whatever and not get lost in the mix, but not so strong you can't enjoy it on its own. Pop a bit in your mouth, chew slowly and let that deep, rich aftertaste linger!
Plenty of options here—from a simple cracker with some bacon bits to a hamburger or pizza with all the toppings to the snackables bag at your next outdoor adventure—Apple-Walnut Smoked just might be your new best friend.

    Lovin' It!

My wife and I love this cheese! The flavor is mild and subtle; just the right hint of smoked apple and walnut. The texture is also great!

    Fair and bland

Did not find this cheese to be particularly a good choice. Not smokey and tasted like the regular cheddar cheeses offered by Beehive.

    Disappointed

Purchased this cheese from Mosida Market. I love smoked cheeses but found this cheese to have zero flavor outside of just being a cheddar. I had four other co-workers try the cheese, and everyone agrees that there is ZERO smoky flavor. Maybe a bad batch? The cheese is fine, but I wouldn't call it a smoked cheese.
